Porch Time

For the past few weeks or so, the weather has been absolutely beautiful where I live, on the Eastside of Seattle. We have had several days of clear blue skies and temperatures well into the 70s…for any area it would be considered good weather, but especially for this area.

One of the things I like most about days like these, are the evenings. I have done my best to spend time each day outside, and especially in the evenings. There is something peaceful about sitting on the porch and just enjoying the sunshine, getting to spend time in God’s creation. From reading, writing, taking a nap, or even just listening to the sounds of the birds and playing with my dog, it just feels great to be outside. During these times I spend time thinking and reflecting on many different things. I often just let my mind wander, for better or worse, and see where my thoughts take me. It is great having a time for reflection and relaxation, not to mention getting to soak up some good old Vitamin D!

This post does not have much of a main point or purpose, I just wanted to briefly mention that I enjoy these times and greatly appreciate them. I have been reminded to be intentional about taking time each day to relax and just enjoy life. Below are a couple pictures of my time this evening, including a picture of the writing of this post…which I am doing outside!

Seeking Guest Posters!

So here is the deal…I am looking for people who may be interested in guest posting here on my blog.

It is a two way win if you think about it. First, it provides you with a chance to get your thoughts and voice heard. If you have your own blog or not, this can be a good opportunity for you. Second, it helps to diversify my blog and hopefully reach new readers/followers.

So, I am open to your ideas! Let me know if you are interested and we can go from there! If you are interested, comment here and I will be in touch with you.

Looking forward to some new ideas, thoughts and posts!

Chapters in Life

Think about a book for a moment. Nearly every book of any length is divided into chapters. These chapters work together to bring about the full story. If taken individually, a single chapter would not make sense…the reader would be confused as to who the characters are and what is happening. This is why a book is not read by only reading a single chapter; no, it is read by reading all the chapters, in order. Just because a chapter ends, does not mean that everything starts a new with the new chapter, rather, it builds. In this way, the story is understood by the end and all the pieces have fallen into place.

I like to think of our lives as being broken into chapters. These chapters often reflect significant events that shape us and provide structure to our lives. Chapters may include things such as: college, time at a particular job, a relationship, and living in a particular area…I think you get the idea.

Just like a book, there are themes, people and ideals that run constant throughout our chapters. While some of these things remain constant throughout our lives, or at least through multiple chapters, but some of these do disappear between chapters, and do not play a part in subsequent chapters. It is important to recognize when these chapters end and try to determine what will happen in the next chapter, what will remain the same and what will be set aside.

As I have moved through the story that is my life, there have been people, places, material possessions, ideas and more that have stayed through the chapters, been written out and been added in. It just keeps showing me that my life is like a book, and I do not even know everything that is happening. Is it easy to move through the chapters of life? Not always, no. But I try not to be too worried.

You see, one of the reasons I am not too worried about what is next in my story, is because I believe the words of Hebrews 12:2, which state: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Jesus is the author of my life. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and future (Jeremiah 29:11).

So as I move into new chapters in my life, I know there are things and people that will not have a significant role in the new chapter. This is not necessarily an easy pill to swallow, but life does go on. For everything that is taken out of my life, I know that God will replace it with something even more amazing and in line with what He has in store for my life.

To those who are also starting new chapters, to those who are working on figuring out their own story and what may or may not be in it- I wish you all the best. We all go through periods of life in which we try to figure out more of who we are and what God wants for us, and I hope each and every one of you gets to that point. Know you are in my thoughts, but more importantly in my prayers.

So live life, enjoy the chapter you may be in, and know that something new is around the corner…in a chapter still waiting to be written. But also know that some times, goodbyes happen…

Every memory of looking out the back door
I had the photo album spread out on my bedroom floor
It’s hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye.
Every memory of walking out the front door
I found the photo of the friend that I was looking for
It’s hard to say it, time to say it
Goodbye, goodbye

That is just a few random facts, but I find them interesting enough.

I have written about why I blog before, so I will not say much now. What I will say is that I have greatly appreciated the creative outlet that this blog has provided. It has allowed me to write and post a lot of what is on my mind and what I have gone through. Granted, not everything that has happened is here, but a good amount has been written about. I look forward to continue writing and posting for a long time to come. In fact, I have 7 different drafts to posts that will be coming up in the near future! So no worries, this blog is not going anywhere!

I am especially thankful to those of you who have read this, and even more so for those of you who have subscribed. I greatly appreciate your support, comments and everything! If you ever have questions or want me to write about something, please do not hesitate to ask-just post a comment somewhere!

Well, there’s my 100th! Not super glamorous but just what I wanted to write 🙂 Be sure to be on the lookout for more posts on faith, life, music and whatever else may be on my mind! For as long as I can, I will continue using this blog.

Pen to Paper…The process begins!

So I have mentioned before, on my bucket list, that I want to someday write a book. I am not sure if it will end up being published, but I want to write for sure. I have tossed around several ideas in my mind, and I have settled on what I will begin to write about. I know it is going to be a lengthy process, but I figure, I am not in must of a hurry so why not. I am working on establishing a timeline to keep me on track. The first step will be creating the outline for my writings, followed shortly thereafter by research, research, and even a little more research.

I am sure you are wondering what I will be writing about. Well….guess you will just have to wait a little bit longer 😉 It is not that I do not want to share what it is about, because I really do! However, I am keeping this a secret for now. That being said, there are some of you that I will be reaching out to for help at various points…most likely I will be posting here too to ask for help from my readers. That being said, if you would like to help (know of good resources to look into, proof reading, sound board for me to bounce ideas off of, etc…) let me know!

What I can tell you is that it will be theological in nature. I will be going in depth with a theological idea and attempting to provide real life examples related to the idea as well as practical ways for people to integrate the idea into their everyday lives.

It should be a bit of an adventure as I set forth to do something I never really have before! We shall see where it may lead, but I am hoping for the best. Your prayers and support would be greatly appreciated as I dive on in. I will post here when the time is right!

Thank You!

A special note to those of you who read my blog. Whether this is your first time reading what I write, or if you are an avid follower, I wanted to say thank you. It is encouraging to know that there are people out there who are actually reading what I write and seeing what I post.

However, I do not write just to have people read what I write. If that was the sole motivator behind my writings, then I would write and post what I thought the majority of people would want to read and see. Basically, I would write to appeal to the masses…but this is not why I write.

Many people ask me why I keep a blog and why I write so much. The easiest way to answer this is that it is a creative outlet. By keeping a blog, I have a medium by which to express the ideas, thoughts and feelings in my mind in a mix of a creative and structured way. This blog is my outlet and for as long as I can, I will keep writing and posting…and subsequently you can keep reading.

All that being said, I do appreciate those of you have subscribed to my blog. It is good to know that at least a few of you out there are seeing my posts 😉 If there are any of you who would also like to subscribe, I welcome it. It is super easy to whether you have a blog or not, just check out the side panel for the box to click. If you have a blog and decide to follow me, I will follow you right back!

If you ever want to provide me feedback, ask questions or give ideas for posts, please let me know! I welcome and encourage all of it. So if there is something you have wanted to ask me, or a topic you want to hear my thoughts about, comment somewhere and let me know. If you read a past post and want to know more, post a comment. I try hard to reply to everyone who posts and respond with a thought out answer. I really love questions, so feel free to ask me anything! I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you for reading now and into the future! Stay tuned, you just never know what I may post!

So many components to a blog post! (Ignore the cirlced "mac" though, I am a proud PC owner)
