King Intro

The following is from Christian rapper and spoken word artist Lecrae.

King Intro:

Lets establish that He’ Israel’ King
So in Matthew 1 and 1 and on the 1:17,
We see His lineage and trace way back into time
That legally He was fine in the Davidic line
And genealogically He’ still King of the Jews
Cause the Book of Luke exposes genetical clues
See a true King
though He didn’t do it in the physical,
He brought a new covenant to free ‘im in the spiritual
And after sometime,
Wise men from the east came looking for the new born king in the streets
I know some of you dudes may cruise a 4Runner
But Christ had the dude He used as a forerunner
And no promoter gunna cut it like the John the Baptist
You need publicity stunts so you datin’ an actress
A real King has somebody bringin’ the news
That his kingdoms ahead and they ain’t fit to lace up his shoes
So tell me who’s the one anointing all these so called kings?
They all self proclaimed and man, that’s a dangerous thing

A powerful spoken word regarding the gospel. Listen to it, really listen to it…but do not just listen, take it in.

Trying to prove God is like defending a lion, it doesn’t need your help…just unlock the cage.

Switch Flipped…Burden Cut

So if it is okay with you, I would like to tell you a little bit about this weekend, but not in the traditional sense…Yes, I had an awesome weekend. I worked a concert, saw a great new movie and experienced a Seattle sporting victory-all while having a blast with various friends….but the weekend was so much more than that! It is so hard to put into words, but I am going to give it my best shot, bear with me.

When I got home late Sunday evening, I felt, well…different- but in a very good way, I assure you! Through everything that had happened over the weekend I felt like God had reached inside me and flipped a switch. It was as though so much of what I have been carrying around had fallen away. I have internalized various feelings, thoughts and emotions that are now gone. To be honest, I felt like Christian in Pilgrims Progress, when he stands at “the place of deliverance.” Essentially, he comes to cross and when the shadow passes over him, the straps of his burden break, and the burden rolls away.

This is really the best way I can try to describe the feeling: it is like my burden has fallen completely away…it is like God reached down and cut it free. As I mentioned above, it is also like a switch inside me has been flipped. I feel my hope in the future restored and my sights completely realigned on Christ and the path He has set before me. Now I am not saying that I was not focused on Christ before, but now I feel it alive inside of me. I have true hope and joy for the future and have been able to let go of so much.

The saying goes “time heals all wounds” but I raise a counter “God heals all wounds…in His time.” Sometimes it takes longer than others, but for the first time in a while, I feel healed of so much. I felt God speaking to me last night, and I now see that I am where He wants me to be in this moment. He healed me in His timing, not mine. He truly does make all things work together for my good.

I may not be totally sure what the future will hold, but I am confident in the plans the Lord has…all He asks is for me to be obedient and to trust and hope in Him…and I do! This weekend was good in so many ways (look out for another post to come soon!!) but for this I am the most thankful. Through the experiences and friends of the weekend, I truly felt God move and act…how great of a feeling is that!

What do you need to turn over to God and give Him a chance to completely heal? I promise you, the outcome will surprise you!

Two Words

What is your motivation to run and succeed at the life set before you? It may be that you are seeking human satisfaction, but when it is finished the words of humans will mean nothing and will be forgotten. So, let me pose a question to you…what are you doing with the life before you…what are you living for?

For me, I strive to fulfill the life and plan Christ has for me, although I may not fully know what it may be. I long for the day that I hear those two words of final affirmation from the Lord of Lords and King of Kings: WELL DONE. Nothing said on this side of heaven will mean as much as the hope of one day hearing those two powerful words.

Just as with the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), I strive to invest what He has provided me with, my skills, abilities and dreams. I will not simply save it all and bury it in the ground. He has already shown trust in me (and you!) by providing us all with various talents unique to ourselves…who are we to simply bury them?

Lord-let me live in a way that one day I may be fortunate to hear the words “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

Moriah Peters’ Well Done embodies this desire in a beautiful, direct and to-the-point way”

Share in the Life

Now the whole offer which Christianity make is this: that we can, if we let God have His way, come to share in the life of Christ.

If we do, we shall then be sharing a life which was begotten, not made, which always existed and always will exist. If we share in this kind of life we also shall be sons of God. We shall love the Father as He does and the Holy Ghost will arise in us. He came to this world and became a man in order to spread to other men the kind of life He has by what I call good infection. Every Christian is to become a little Christ.

The whole purpose of becoming a Christian is simply nothing else.

Refuse!…Life Song

This song is one of my daily inspirations and anthems to my life. I absolutely love it and desire to live on out what the words say:

I refuse to stay unchanged
To wait another day, to die to myself
I refuse to make one more excuse

‘Cause I don’t want to live like I don’t care
I don’t want to say another empty prayer
Oh, I refuse

To sit around and wait for someone else
To do what God has called me to do myself
Oh, I could choose Not to move but

I refuse

After listening to this, I want you to just sit and think about it what it may mean to you. You have been called for a purpose and meaning in this life, are you fulfulling this calling or are you just sitting by until others are called to fill in for you?

Personally, I do not want God to have to use others to do what He has called me to do. I am done waiting on the sidelines, I finished making excuses and I will not say another empty prayer. Sure, it would be easier to do these things-to just live simply, not do much and just sit ideally by…but that is not what I, or anyone, am called to do! Seek out the plan in place for you and pursue it…move!

What have you been called to do?

EFC Uturn Jr. High

So last night was an interesting one…it was my last Wednesday serving as a leader with my church’s junior high youth group: Uturn. I have been with the youth group since September and have overall enjoyed the experience and opportunity.

When I ended my time at camp last August, I moved back home but I was not ready to end my ministy outreach. I prayed that God would bring about an opportunity for me, and He sure did! I was asked to be a leader with the youth group and said yes right away. That was nearly nine months ago…

I am so thankful to God for allowing me to be apart of this group. Not only have I been able to help lead the junior highers, specifically the 8th grade guys, but I have had the priveledge of being part of a great team of individuals. Together we have worked to create a welcoming enviroment for junior high students, an enviroment of safety, fun, new experiences, and most importantly one in which all we do is centered around the good news and gospel of Jesus Christ.

I will never forget my time with Uturn as I enter into new parts of my life, new opportunties. I take with me fond memories and new friends, as well as renewed purpose and mission in life.
