Christians are called to be in the world but not of the world for by Christ we are called (Romans 12). This world is sinful, if we are with Christ we are set apart from the world. So. if we are not of this world but in this world what does that make those of us who are true, confessing Christians? Aliens. We are foreigners living in a strange land.
I was recently listening to Lecrae and his song Aliens came across my ears. In it he, with the rhythmic assistance of Tedashii, uses “aliens” as an acronym.
A – A whole notha kind of folks, kinda slow. But we gotta go cause the world’s so Ill.
L – Livin’ the life and livin’ it right, and livin’ for Christ and that’s real in the field
I- Intelligent but irrelavent without Christ, it’s nothing but another sin element
E- Eternal purpose, without it this earth is dead and worthless
N- Never stop giving Him props, giving Him praise now until the end of our days
S- Seek Him and please Him and let the people know that they need Him
Aliens! New Creations, new free agents, ain’t signed to sin
What the world do, we don’t do
Cause we wanna do what the Lord does; Christ within our system
Listen our mission’s the Great Commisssion, we come here to represent Him
That’s why we call ourself Christianans, Ha, Let me spit another line
For the Plumbline and the Frontline one time on the front lines
keep holdin’ it down for all the pilgrims
All over the world representing for the bloodline
The following is from Christian rapper and spoken word artist Lecrae.
Lets establish that He’ Israel’ King So in Matthew 1 and 1 and on the 1:17, We see His lineage and trace way back into time That legally He was fine in the Davidic line And genealogically He’ still King of the Jews Cause the Book of Luke exposes genetical clues See a true King though He didn’t do it in the physical, He brought a new covenant to free ‘im in the spiritual And after sometime, Wise men from the east came looking for the new born king in the streets I know some of you dudes may cruise a 4Runner But Christ had the dude He used as a forerunner And no promoter gunna cut it like the John the Baptist You need publicity stunts so you datin’ an actress A real King has somebody bringin’ the news That his kingdoms ahead and they ain’t fit to lace up his shoes So tell me who’s the one anointing all these so called kings? They all self proclaimed and man, that’s a dangerous thing
Now think about this question: in what do you place your identity?
Do you place your identity in the world…in objects, in stuff…? Do you feel like you will not be accepted if you do not have the latest and greatest the world has to offer?
I, for one, will work to place my identity in something-rather someone- not of this world.
My identity is in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Another great song…it’s been catching my attention more and more over the past few weeks. In fact, I ended up purchasing it on my phone and cannot stop listening to it! I feel like there are so many different things you could take away from this song, so rather than me sit here and write about what it means to me, I want you to think about what it means to you. Think about it, and post here should you feel lead.
I do not think it is too late to make it…it is not too late to try, but do not let the bridge burn down.
Happy ever after can still exist..the fairy tale is not gone just yet…it is still there.
