ALIENS

Christians are called to be in the world but not of the world for by Christ we are called (Romans 12). This world is sinful, if we are with Christ we are set apart from the world. So. if we are not of this world but in this world what does that make those of us who are true, confessing Christians? Aliens. We are foreigners living in a strange land.

I was recently listening to Lecrae and his song Aliens came across my ears. In it he, with the rhythmic assistance of Tedashii, uses “aliens” as an acronym.

A – A whole notha kind of folks, kinda slow. But we gotta go cause the world’s so Ill.
L – Livin’ the life and livin’ it right, and livin’ for Christ and that’s real in the field
I- Intelligent but irrelavent without Christ, it’s nothing but another sin element
E- Eternal purpose, without it this earth is dead and worthless
N- Never stop giving Him props, giving Him praise now until the end of our days
S- Seek Him and please Him and let the people know that they need Him

Aliens! New Creations, new free agents, ain’t signed to sin
What the world do, we don’t do
Cause we wanna do what the Lord does; Christ within our system
Listen our mission’s the Great Commisssion, we come here to represent Him
That’s why we call ourself Christianans, Ha, Let me spit another line
For the Plumbline and the Frontline one time on the front lines
keep holdin’ it down for all the pilgrims
All over the world representing for the bloodline

Two Words

What is your motivation to run and succeed at the life set before you? It may be that you are seeking human satisfaction, but when it is finished the words of humans will mean nothing and will be forgotten. So, let me pose a question to you…what are you doing with the life before you…what are you living for?

For me, I strive to fulfill the life and plan Christ has for me, although I may not fully know what it may be. I long for the day that I hear those two words of final affirmation from the Lord of Lords and King of Kings: WELL DONE. Nothing said on this side of heaven will mean as much as the hope of one day hearing those two powerful words.

Just as with the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), I strive to invest what He has provided me with, my skills, abilities and dreams. I will not simply save it all and bury it in the ground. He has already shown trust in me (and you!) by providing us all with various talents unique to ourselves…who are we to simply bury them?

Lord-let me live in a way that one day I may be fortunate to hear the words “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

Moriah Peters’ Well Done embodies this desire in a beautiful, direct and to-the-point way”

Divine Paradox

This is a prime example of why it is called “faith.” Christianity may seem to be a paradox, but I assure it is a divine paradox at that. The points in this quote, by A. W. Tozer (an American Christian pastor), are founded in Biblical truth and Christian theology. Read the quote, and welcome to my faith.

At the heart of the Christian faith lies a divine paradox.

Simply observe the true Christian as he puts into practice the teachings of Jesus. Note the contradictions:

The Christian believes that in Christ he has died, yet he is more alive than before and he fully expects to live forever. He walks on earth while seated in heaven and though born on earth he finds that after his conversion he is not at home here. He loses his life to save it and is in danger of losing it if he attempts to preserve it. He goes down to get up. If he refuses to go down he is already down, but when he starts down he is on his way up.

He is strongest when he is weakest and weakest when he is strong. Though poor he has the power to make others rich. He has most after…

Share in the Life

Now the whole offer which Christianity make is this: that we can, if we let God have His way, come to share in the life of Christ.

If we do, we shall then be sharing a life which was begotten, not made, which always existed and always will exist. If we share in this kind of life we also shall be sons of God. We shall love the Father as He does and the Holy Ghost will arise in us. He came to this world and became a man in order to spread to other men the kind of life He has by what I call good infection. Every Christian is to become a little Christ.

The whole purpose of becoming a Christian is simply nothing else.

C.S. Lewis

Forgiven

Take a moment and reflect on yourself…

Think about what you are facing,

What you have dealt with,

And the future still to come…

No matter what it may be:

YOU ARE FORGIVEN!

I feel as though I truly connect with the lyrics of this song. Sometimes my past plays with my head, failure knocks me down, and I just cannot forget the wrong I have done and said. Memories, thoughts and emotions come surging back, and I too struggle with my pain and seem to wrestle with pride.

But when I do not fit in, and I feel like I do not belong anywhere, I am reminded that I, just like you, am a treasure in the arms of Christ and have been forgiven!

Christ has taken the weight of who I have been, I no longer have to carry the burden because I have been set free through His forgiveness and love…and if that is not news worth celebrating, then I do not know what is!
