Well, it is a big day for the Seattle Mariners. Yesterday, August 15th, Felix Hernandez pitched the first perfect game in Mariners history.
Affectionately dubbed “King Felix” by Mariners fans, we all hoped and longed for this day. A perfect game: no hits, no runs, no walks…just 27 up 27 down across 9 innings. This is quiet the feat for a pitcher and it has only happened 33 other times in the history of professional baseball. And at 3:02 PM, August 15, the 34th perfect game in history was thrown.
For me, I am in no way a fairweather baseball fan. The Mariners have always been my team, and will be no matter where I may move to in life. I have followed them through the various highs and lows over the years, and am now even more honored to call myself a fan. My only regret: not being at yesterday’s game to see history being made.
